It started with
a low tide…

…a few friends with rakes in hand, wading into the bay to discover briny treasure just under the sandy silty bay bottom. A tiny shock wave felt by the tell-tale knock of a clam vibrating through the end of a rake. And each time the seeking turned into finding, we were amazed by the beauty and symmetry of these bivalves.

Immersed in the bay, surrounded by scent of salt, of the mussels and sea grasses clinging to shore, mingled with the sounds of osprey hunting and diving – we became even more aware of our surroundings, the blues and greens deepening and growing more vivid, senses sharpening, becoming brighter, minds and bodies becoming calm, more centered and feeling even more a part of this place we love.

Clamity Janes were born from seeking and thrive on finding.

Whether that’s discovering and reveling in the natural beauty of the East End, finding that perfect, secret clamming spot or a picturesque place to unwind and be your authentic self, the journey of finding and discovery never ends.

Meet the Janes

We are a small collective of North Fork enthusiasts who discovered an even deeper appreciation of the natural beauty of the East End through the calming, sensory-rich experience of clamming.

Whether its low tide in summertime in swimsuits or suited up in wintertime chest waders, Clamity Janes celebrate the way of the clam year ‘round. We respect the waterways, we take what we rake, but we throw back the babies. We are licensed and clam only in legally designated areas. We support clean water, shellfish restoration and enhancement projects, the working baymen and baywomen of Suffolk, sustainable aquaculture, our community and we do our part to help ensure the future of clean, biodiverse and abundant North Fork waters.

Janes’ swag.

We dig clams, and we love gear that blends a touch of nostalgia with a thoroughly modern vibe. Go on, get clamorous. You know you want to.
